The first virus (updated)
Eventually, it happened. All the Windows users can finally seat back and relax: today a virus for Mac OS X 10.4 (the latest operating system) appeared.
It’s a worm, it arrives via ichat as a compressed archive. Opening it saves an image and creates some folders and infects some files, but not system files… and try to send itself via ichat again. Technically, a real worm.
In practice, you need to open and execute it manually, and to type your system password (!!!) to make it become a threat: “hey, do you want to download something unexpected and suspicious?” - click yes and then click again to uncompress this file, then click to open it, then type your password… basically you have to run it yourself, 3 times!
It’s not more dangerous than clicking on format on Windows machines…
You can read more about it at Sophos and Symantec.
Moreover, on Symantec site it says that the worm has a bug, and could not manage to send itself properly… bah. It’s true that for Mac many good programs are missing: all the viruses

Ah ah ah… That’s not a big problem yet…
Something so scary is to know that most of big viruses on windows could be not runned if people create a specific admin session… Like it seems to be already made on MacOSX…

Yeah, I guess the problem is that Mac users dont know anything about computers, including how to program decent viruses…
