Google’s censorship
Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Cisco called to court in USA… for their censorship and cooperation with the Chinese government.
13 Chinese intellectuals and ex comunist party members denonciated the shameful behaviour through a brave letter: “Only a totalitary system needs news censorship… a violation of the constitution… freedom of speech has been reduced and proscription lists have been introduced, to control the public opinion“. It’s like a massive stone thrown in the lake…
But Beijin answer is simple: the Party only asked to the big western companies to unplug pornographic and terroristic sites, which include BBC and everything featuring the words Tienanmen, Tibet, Dalai Lama, etc.
The 4 giants accepted. Market’s law. It’s the only way to enter deeply in such a huge bassin: 180 millions of internet users are worth electronic delations (Yahoo), censorship hardware/software tools (Cisco), opinion’s censorship (Microsoft), un-indexing sites (Google)… Basically, the same companies that in the western world assure and represent innovation, future, progress, freedom, have been the first powerful tool to ensure censorship and suffocate real democracy.
And what if even here, today, the news are manipulated… without we being aware?
