After Borat
Borat could be defined YAAMM (yet another anti-American movie), since it makes so much fun of the American society and of the average Joe… of course Europeans and Australians laughed a lot, Russians can’t watch it, and Americans enjoy it since it’s just a movie (!).
But, what about the Romanians? I mean, they probably only saw Borat’s trailer, where you have the cow in-da-house, the multi-awarded sister, and the 8legs-drive car… anyway, this trailer was shot there, and this was enough to upset the Romanians, since now they feel their reputation ruined! Or is this still only undirect advertisement for Borat’s shows?
For the entire story, you can have a look in Reuters’ article here.

Fantastic movie! For sure people in Khazakstan have no reason to be upset, the movie is not about them. As for Romania, well yeah it did show a poor Romanian Gypsy village. The things that Borat was saying weren’t meant to be believed by anyone with half a brain (which is why he can con so many Americans), and the things you see are reality, which you can’t really blame the film for including. That hold not just for the Romanian village, but for just about the entire film.
My 2 cents worth anyway.

yep, thruth is, Romanian Gypsies are living in that way because of their choice, right? so why now they should complain of their worldwide mediatic impression? …
